Novi Split “Hollow Notes” EP Download

novi

There is no better way to describe David J’s latest music release than to just hear it:

Novi Split – “Hollow Notes” EP Sampler Mix

or, in his own words:

Check it. Novi Split. Hollow Notes. These songs come from the last few years of recording, and were recorded for a number of reasons. 1. Hollow Notes. This is a song I wrote so when I listen to it, I can feel sorry for myself. 2. New Kids. I wrote this song not too long ago. It’s weird. 3. Keep My Word. My friend CMG wrote this one. He’s doing a better version of this song on his new album coming out in October. Check it: myspace.com/CMGlovesyou. 4. Here’s To The Rescue. My friend Daniel Ahearn wrote this. I love this song.

The song “Hollow Notes” will lend some tenderness to a beach scene on the season premiere of the TV show One Tree Hill this Monday Sept 14th.

The EP download is available in the HUSHshop (with bonus songs) and iTunes.

Zoologists will tell you, if you ask them, that there is no need to try to parse the vocabulary or understand the grammar of animal language.

Jaina, who hinted at his penchant for long winded preambles in his tour diaries, has taken his writer’s pen and aimed it closer to home with a new column entitled Little Box Of Lies at LocalCut.com

Fortunately, Nick always has a nice payoff–a boomerang hook–for his four paragraphs of positing, and he tends to weave some pretty compelling prose that might just as soon be categorized under essays.  It’s a welcome formal and earnest note to the hard workin’ local blog.

Norfolk & Western serves up Dinero Severo

dinero

Big news from The Norfolk & Western camp:

After spending the better part of the year touring with other folks (Adam with M. Ward, Rachel with Jolie Holland & Mirah, Dave with Jolie Holland & Loch Lomond), we have completed our record and are driving to your town! (Depending on where you live).

Regardless of your whereabouts, we are proud to share with you our new album Dinero Severo.

And they mean it.  Head on over to norfolkandwestern.org to stream the new album in its entirety, basking in it’s dulcet tones and occasional, well placed cacophony. (All you need to do is sign up for their newsletter.)

We recorded it over the last couple of years, mostly in our hometown of Portland save for a few songs which were tracked in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain. See, not only the fancy bands get to eat Manchego, drink copious amounts of Spanish wine and roam the beaches where Columbus set sail to discover India.
We will be streaming the record here on our website through October while we head out on tour with Mirah.
