Jeff London “Col. Summers Park” Sampler Mix

Jeff London makes lilting, gorgeously textured, and lyrical music in the tradition of NW kindred spirits Damien Jurado and Joel R.L. Phelps. London, with an ear for melody and a unique gift for infusing his lyrics with subtlety and uncanny imagery, writes timeless songs that succeed on every level. His trademark so-called ‘grad school ennui’ comes off not as pedantic, but honest, amiable and down to earth. With a who’s-who cast of Portland musicians, including members of Kind of Like Spitting and The Places, London’s songs are bolstered with violin, French horn, piano, lap steel guitar, a solid rhythm section, and thoughtful vocal harmonies. The album listens like a novel, each song a chapter fleshing out the complexities of a vignette, sub-plots that elucidate an over-arching theme. Col. Summers Park is a rich pastiche of country tinged ballads, languorous back-porch folk, and pure pop. On the heels of an acclaimed split EP with Kind of Like Spitting, London has developed a national buzz that Col. Summers Park will surely build on.
