Complete Love For Completists.

bundles

If you are the kind of person that must collect everything by the artist that catches your ear, or the label that snags your heart, this is a love letter to you.

We’ve just added all manner of digital bundles to our collection of, shall we say, bundles concrete.

Most notably our surprisingly popular “The Works” Complete HUSH catalog listing has been brought into the digital age with a whopping 5.5+ gig music download of well over 70 albums at a stupifying 63% discount (that’s 90 bucks less than the CD version and no hefty shipping fee.).  Look for more from Laura Gibson, Loch Lomond, Nick Jaina, Norfolk & Western, Kind of Like Spitting, Blanket Music, & Graves

And now for… A Book About Elephants

My introduction to Christina Tsui’s music came as so many do these days: an update–the kind I rarely register–to my Myspace page said, “A Book Of Elephants has added a new track”.  The thumbnail looked like this:

The combination of moniker and unaffected webcam still (or if it was affected, certainly standing in stark contrast to a prevailing trend toward exotic and humorless masquerading) was enough to pique my interest, and indeed served as an apropos indicator of the music:  An equally unaffected and clear-voiced singer served up short songs with painterly lyricism and appealing melodies. The songs gave me a nostalgic flashbacks to the wide-eyed and optimistic documenting of bedroom recordings that HUSH was founded on. Wanting to recapture a little of that spirit, I asked Christina if she’d mind if I played accompaniment, remotely.  The result is an EP titled Milk The Moon, wherein Tsui’s vocals and guitar melodies stand sentinel over minimal arrangements for piano, bass, glockenspiel, celeste, percussion and soft keyboard lines.

This is another in a series of releases wherein we present the music freely as a gift, asking only that if it brings joy to your life that you mindfully reciprocate with your monetary support.

HUSH seeks to nurture a liberated music culture where personal discovery meets elective support and thrives. Let’s do this thing–together!

Dustin Hamman, his band of Johns, (John Vechiarelli, John Whaley & John Reski) and Michael Capello on stand-up bass performed as Run On Sentence for OPB Radio’s Live Wire! variety show a few weeks ago. Despite some technical difficulties (neatly edited out for the radio) the band gave a rousing performance. and Hamman charmed the audience with anecdotes from life in the Columbia Gorge.
