Peter Broderick – “Docile” Vinyl LP

1280x1280

I am pleased as punch to share with you this reissue of a very special album that has been out of print for the better part of a decade. Docile is a solo piano suite recorded May 6, 2007 originally released on 10” vinyl. It is a collection of compositions that is at once undeniably stirring and resonant. I’m not alone in my thinking either. Two out of the three top songs from Broderick’s Spotify repertoire are from Docile, garnering well over 3 million listens.

New Track From Loch Lomond, On Tour Now!

Loch Lomond is on tour, and they’ve released a new song on a Tender Loving Empire Friends and Friends of Friends compilation.

“Now a full decade into its existence, Loch Lomond is a band that has shaped the musical direction of the Portland, Oregon, music scene while also constantly challenging and redefining its own sound. Anchored by the versatile vocals of singer/multi-instrumentalist Ritchie Young—who can switch from high-pitched and fragile to thundering in the turn of a single phrase—the group builds dynamic soundscapes with swells and heartbreaking minimalist breakdowns…”

Happy Piano Day! Nils Frahm Releases “Solo” To Fund A Dream

Just in from Nils:

At the end of 2014 I had an immediate urge to release a solo piano album which I recorded some time ago, and I was looking for a specific occasion to do so. I wanted it to be a nice surprise for everyone, so I thought of a meaningful release date to begin with.

Seconds later it came to my mind: I was about to create my own holiday in order to come up with a reason for this release. Moreover, if I could be proud of something, then of being responsible for an annual celebration of the piano. And here comes the best bit, Piano Day will happen on the 88th day of the year, which most of the time is the 29th of March. Piano Day is intended to be the most joyful of all holidays…

My new record – solo – was recorded on the prototype of the instrument under discussion. Although being a slightly smaller version with 3.7 meters in height, the Klavins M370  is already tremendous and gigantic sounding…

Read the whole story, download the recording for free or purchase a copy, and GIVE generously to make a dream come true, and cement this newly minted holiday!

Kind of Like Spitting To Tour, New Split EP Release Feb 3

KOLS_April_Tour_poster_dates

A new split EP is due on Topshelf Records, digitally, February 3, 2015!

From Topshelf:

Indie cult favorites Kind of Like Spitting formed in 1996 in Portland, Oregon. The band, led by singer-songwriter Ben Barnett, regularly toured in the US and released twelve albums in a span of just seven years. They broke-up in 2006 but Barnett re-formed the band earlier this year. The current lineup consists of Barnett, (guitar/vocals), Brian Grant (bass) and Dante Johnson (drums). If you’re a fan of Barnett’s output with his other project Blunt Mechanic, you’re gonna have an especially good time with this album. Chunky guitars contrasted with eloquent, driving bass lines and washed out, incredibly hooky vocals abound on these seven tracks. It’s classic Kind of Like Spitting and the Elvis Costello cover really makes a ton of sense, too.
